A transformation is underway at The Downstream Project. We call it Downstream 2.0. We’re expanding our digital storytelling power with new technology and smarter data tools to amplify conservation voices. We’re upgrading our web-hosting and digital infrastructure so that our 40 web partners have faster, more robust web services — at prices nonprofits can afford.
It’s been a long paddle down a river that brings change at every turn! In 2007, we released a full-length documentary, Shenandoah: Voices of the River. Then we started making more films. It seems all our nonprofit watershed partners wanted a film about their stream. Where would they share them? A relatively new medium, the world wide web, was the answer. But most websites back then were just digital brochures. We needed to change that.
So we shifted from producing films to building the websites and digital tools that could carry our partners’ stories downstream—to every screen, every community, and every willing heart. For nearly 20 years, we’ve met changing times with new technologies and the same commitment to partnership. We helped bring dozens of groups into the 21st century, and we’re still going.
Each year, our partners work to keep our waterways clean. We’re honored to grow alongside them and deeply grateful for your continued trust and financial support.
